Carolina Trailblazers

Black women consistently play an immeasurable role in breaking down barriers and elevating our culture. From the resounding words of Maya Angelou, to the bold political activism of Stacey Abrams, the contributions of Black women have illuminated countless paths toward our collective progression. The Harvey B. Gantt Center salutes the highly acclaimed and well-known Black female figures around the globe as we take the month of March to celebrate trailblazers of the Carolinas: Black women who have forged new lanes of excellence here at home. Every week, we highlight one of our innovators as we shine a light on her story with much deserved roses, in honor of Women's History Month.
