About This Program
Dive into the 3D art world with our Future Visions: Sculpting Afrofuturist Masks in 3D workshop! In this hands-on session, you'll use iPads to bring forth your very own digital sculpture. Learn essential tools and techniques for shaping, detailing, and texturing 3D models, and artistic fundamentals like facial proportions and creating depth. This workshop is perfect for beginners and those looking to expand their artistic toolkit.
For this project, we'll explore Afrofuturism by creating an Afrofuturist Mask – drawing on Afrofuturism, blending technology and African culture to explore the connection between past and future.

About The Teaching Artist
Many of Quincy Woodard's works are derived from his childhood, as he grew up in a home filled with African/African American artworks from all over the world. He fondly remembers my parents finding interest in African masks and other African symbols of power like African animal statues, fertility figures, and of course tons of African American paintings. He wants to always honor his life experiences by sharing them through his works, bringing anyone who views them a sample of what molded his artistry. As he and technology have grown, he's taken many of these early influences and "modernized" them. He uses various digital tools including Photoshop, Procreate, Blender, Nomad Sculpt amongst other programs to elevate and build upon the artworks that influenced him. Quincy thinks it’s imperative to honor your ancestors, and that is his intention within all his works. "We are all continuing a story, and I hope my works depict 'African American future'!"
