    Facilitated by de’Angelo DIA and xavia-margrith miles, unlock the healing power of words and mindfulness in this healing and mindfulness workshop. This transformative workshop, for men of color, invites participants on a journey of self-discovery, reflection, and healing through poetry prompts and mindfulness practices.

    Workshop Objectives

    • Discovering Personal Narratives: Explore personal experiences, emotions, and memories through guided writing prompts and reflective exercises.
    • Crafting Healing Poetry: Learn writing techniques for crafting thought provoking and healing poetry that resonate with your personal narrative.
    • Mindfulness and Presence: Integrate mindfulness practices to enhance self-awareness, reduce stress, and cultivate presence in the creative process.
    • Sharing and Listening: Foster a supportive and inclusive environment for sharing poetry and experiences, promoting solidarity, connection and empathy among participants.

    Workshop Activities

    • Guided Meditations: Begin each session with mindfulness exercises to ground participants and cultivate a focused and receptive state of mind.
    • Writing Prompts: Engage in guided writing exercise designed to uncover personal n narratives and emotions, providing a foundation for crafting healing poetry.
    • Poetry Crafting Workshop: Learn several literary techniques to transform personal narratives into expressive and healing poems.
    • Mindfulness Practices: Integrate mindfulness practices (breathing exercises, gratitude meditations) to enhance self-awareness, presence, and emotional well-being throughout the workshop.

    Who Should Attend?

    This workshop is open to cisgender and transgender identifying Black men interested in exploring the healing power of poetry and mindfulness, regardless of prior experience in writing or meditation.

    Notepad or journal Pen or pencil Open mind and willingness to creatively explore.
