  • About This Program

In partnership with Do Greater Charlotte, we are curating a series of free in-community workshops in Do Greater's Creative Mobile Lab, called "Makers on the Move." This series features eclectic workshops from some of the city’s finest creatives.

During the "Crowning Ourselves" workshop, participants design paper crowns inspired by the Charlotte's city crown, symbolizing strength, creativity, and self-expression. Participants cut, decorate, and assemble paper crowns using markers, stickers, and embellishments. Participants then write words of encouragement or advice to their younger selves on their crowns, transforming them into symbols of personal power and resilience. After creating their crowns, participants may wear them around the city, allowing others to see and be inspired by their empowering messages.

This workshop is led by multimedia artist and 2025 Black Carolina Artist-in-Residence, Nadia Meadows. Learn more about Nadia at nadiameadows.com.
