About This Program
A play begins with the script and a team. Join the Gantt Center at Actor's Theater of Charlotte for a first reading of the play Stick Fly, and experience how it all starts. This is a great opportunity to see the moment where the company meets around a table and reads through the script. This “table reading” is usually a private affair, but Actor's Theater is drawing back the curtain for the Gantt Center. Come out and help inform the company’s work, while learning more about the play and the process of creating theatre.
PLEASE NOTE: This event takes place at Actor's Theater of Charlotte, 650 E. Stonewall Street, Charlotte, NC 28202.
About Stick Fly
In this tumultuous look at a privileged African-American family, sibling rivalries flare when the LeVay brothers bring their girlfriends home to Martha’s Vineyard to meet the parents. As secrets spill, this uniquely American play explores issues of race and class while we learn that when it comes to family...you’re stuck.
Stick Fly by Lydia R. Diamond runs February 12 - March 7, 2015, at Actor's Theater of Charlotte. To learn more, visit www.atcharlotte.org/stick-fly/.
Your support helps the Gantt present exceptional exhibitions, leading scholars and engaging programs that celebrate the African-American story.
