About This Program
For July's Family First program, families and friends will learn how to create contour drawings led by teaching artist Makayla Binter.
The word "contour" is French for "outline." Contour drawing is a sketching technique that uses only lines, leaving out texture and tone to highlight the shape and depth of an object. It is a great foundational tool that can help improve your artistic skills.
Teaching artist Makayla Binter will show participants how to contour draw a portrait of themselves using a mirror and different colored pencils, and afterward they will have the option to combine their drawings with their loved ones in layers. By the end of the workshop, participants can go home with a colorful contour portrait, or a collaborative, family-made piece of artwork.
This workshop is open to all ages and experience levels, and all supplies are included in the purchase. Masks are required for non-vaccinated participants.
