    Join us on Sunday, April 13 inside MODA at the Gantt Center for a special screening of Earth Mama to celebrate the final day of the exhibition American GurlAmerican Gurl explores themes of identity, womanhood, and the complexities of the Black feminine experience and this screening serves as a powerful closing moment—one last hoorah to reflect on the stories that have been shared.

    Written and directed by Savanah Leaf, Earth Mama is a deeply moving and poetic portrait of motherhood, resilience, and the challenges of the foster care system. The film follows Gia, a pregnant single mother in the Bay Area fighting to reclaim her family while navigating the realities of race, class, and systemic barriers. Through stunning visuals and raw storytelling, Earth Mama beautifully captures the strength of Black women and the communities that support them.

    This film stars Tia Nomore, Doechii, Erika Alexander, Sharon Duncan-Brewster, Dominic Fike, and Bokeem Woodbine.
