  • About This Program

Celebrate the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library's Community Read at the Gantt with a workshop for the family to enjoy.

This year's Community Read theme is friendship. As we read and engage with the children's book The Big Umbrella, we will explore inclusion, kindness, belonging, and individual uniqueness through discussion and social activities. Led by Charlotte Mecklenburg Library representative Alicia Finley, this workshop will include a community art project to create an inclusion umbrella. All friends and family are welcome!

Community Read is the Library's month-long effort to have the community read and/or listen to books on current and relevant topics and participate in discussions, book clubs, and events hosted by the Library and community partners.

Everyone in the community is welcome to participate: read a book, share perspectives, attend a program, engage on social media, and build a stronger community. #CommunityRead2023
