    About The Film

Released in 1986 and directed by Prince Rogers Nelson, Under the Cherry Moon finds two friends from Miami enjoying life in the Mediterranean by scamming money off of rich women. One day, they read about a young woman set to inherit $50 million from her father. At first, Tricky (played by The Time’s Jerome Benton) has talked Christopher Tracy (Prince) into romancing the heiress for her money, but as he gets to know her, Christopher falls in love. This love comes between the two friends.

About The Classic Black Cinema Series

A film series specifically designed as a vehicle to expose the community to the vast artistic value black film has had throughout the years. The goal is to appeal to as diverse a population as possible and further the appreciation of Black cinema.

Curator and host, Felix Curtis, came to Charlotte from the Oakland/San Francisco Bay area where he curated The San Francisco Black Film Festival and Black Filmworks, the annual film festival component of the Black Filmmakers Hall of Fame, where he later served as Executive Director.
